"If your child asks you tomorrow ..." is the motto of the art project to mark the 30th German Protestant Kirchentag event in Hannover.
The motto also marks the starting point for the project: the questions that occupy people are being collected and preserved for posterity in a "Monument of Questions" on fabric bands.
The "masterpiece" is to be suspended from a 20-metre wooden tower specifically erected for this purpose. The "Lebendige Stadt" Foundation has decided to support this unique project, as – in the words of Dr. Andreas Mattner, Chairman of the Foundation's Executive Board – "it is a work of art that prompts those who see it to think about the statement it makes while uniting art and sustainability".
Up to the autumn of this year, local people and visitors will be able to read and reflect on the 5,000 or so questions posed by children and adults at the "monument" on the Georgsplatz square in Hannover city centre. The concept for the art project was drawn up by Hannover-based architect Dr. Katrin Schuh.
